I was never told that I would have to pay a diagnosis fee for this and felt this was horrible on their end for the issues started occurring 30 mins after we picked it up from them!!! The only labor they did to the truck was their mistake in the beginning for the shifting linkage was off from when they installed the transmission. So in short they drove the truck 2 times and the issue did not reoccur for them and charged us over $130 and would continue to charge us until the issue occurs for them.
I am disgusted by this business. My daughter and I brought her car in to get an alignment. We had just had new tires installed and also a new tie rod. The service technician claimed he was unable to do the alignment because the tie rod was the wrong one (it was just not he updated version, but it was new and there was NOTHING wrong with it). He told me that the car needed a new front passenger wheel bearing and ball joint - that the wheel bearing was so bad that the tire was actually wobbling. He also said the car needed new spark plugs and wires (which happen to have just been replaced in the car). They gave us a $1,000+ recommended quote for the repairs they said needed to be done. My husband went to install the new wheel bearing, and to our surprise there was absolutely nothing wrong with the wheel bearing that was in the car. The ball joint also was in perfect condition. The tie rod that they claimed had been installed incorrectly was actually just not the updated version of the tie rod for that car, however there was absolutely nothing wrong with how it was installed. In addition, the technician neglected to put in the cotter pin that is emergency backup if something happens with the tie rod. I feel completely targeted by this company because I was a female going in for vehicle work. They assumed I was a clueless and vulnerable women and tried to take advantage of me. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. ZERO STARS!!!
I am very disappointed with the service I received from Rum River Automotive. I brought our truck in for it needed a new transmission. (This was warranty work through a third party warranty service.) Transmission was replaced and when we picked it up it started acting up only 30 minutes after leaving the shop. I immediately called the shop and told them it was not working right. The issue was not occurring all the time so we were told to bring it in when it was occurring. So we did, and of course the issue did not reoccur for them for the 2 days they had it. So when they called me to pick it up I was told that there was a diagnosis fee of over $130 for us to pick it up and we would have to pay this fee out of pocket each and every time we bring it in until they can get the issue to occur for them.
I understand that there are wages that need to be paid and it is covered by the labor costs, the diagnosis fee and what not, but when you have issues with something 30 mins after leaving and it is not an issue that is constant, I feel that Rum River Auto should stand behind their work and help us try to figure out what is wrong without charging us each time.
Appalled by this, I called around to multiple places after finding this out and not one told me that they would charge a fee for them to drive it around and try to get the issue to reoccur. I was very upset by this and will not EVER give my business to Rum River Auto again. In my calling around inquiring about how other shops operate or handle these types of issues, another shop in town, that DID NOT even do the initial work on our truck, offered to help diagnose the issue at no cost out of our pocket. If we bring it to them when it is acting up for us they will drive it around for without charging us anything.
By far the best automotive repair shop in Princeton. They are fast, friendly and more reliable then the other repair shops in Princeton. Their prices are great especially when using one of their many coupons available. Their service is great and I have never had an issue after they worked on my car, unlike the other (Hi Tech) repair shop in Princeton. I highly recommend this company for anyone needing service for their vehicles.
I still can’t believe the honest hospitality I experienced at Rum River Automotive. I called in a bit desperately when my engine light went on late Friday afternoon during a road trip. They already had their hands full at the shop, but they welcomed me in and took care of me right away. By the end, I had three very friendly employees volunteering their knowledge to explain everything I needed to know to give me peace of mind for the rest of my trip. If I lived closer, this would absolutely be my go-to shop! Thank you again!
